The Lawn

21/10/201721/10/2017

Reclining back, watching the last of another magic Balinese day, I giggle at the outlook of The Lawn. It is like a piece of Seminyak in Canggu. A little piece of glamour in the surf village.  I don’t mind it for a change but I know it wont’ become my local. I am still an “Old Man’s” gal!

The Lawn is impressive though.

Perched on the beach, tastefully hidden, and discrete, you can chill on reef mats, watching the sun set.

It is pseudo kid friendly with an infinity pool, chez lounges and a couple of bar areas.

The cocktails are fairly standard for Bali – good, still cheaper than most parts of the world. I was a little disappointed with the menu and food but that might because I had been spoilt for organic raw choice all day, and gorging on pizza really didn’t tick my fancy. I am sure many would love their American quasi global menu.

The Lawn in summary is definitely worth a sunset visit – it maybe your thing, but you won’t know until you have been there at least once!

Going out in Auckland

13/06/201714/06/2017

It’s a Friday night in Auckland and we are keen to head out.

We start at My Bar, a funky wine and beer bar tucked away, on Durham St South – a lane way off Queen Street.

It is the perfect place for TGIF drinks, and you can order Japanese from next door which they will bring into the bar for you.

Next spot is a drinking hole along from Queen Street called Lord of the Fries. Beside the food/pub area is a cool standing drinking area. Heater lamps, smoking areas and nice tunes make for a great meet up place.

Then its on to some serious partying.

Dr Rudi is a roof top craft brewery and sporty fun meet up place.

There is an open area for smokers, over looking the super yachts. Pretty awesome views.

We stay here for a few drinks (and hours) as the vibe is good, the guy on the piano has the place dancing, and the DJ gets everyone grooving too. A fun friendly place.

Downstairs is another popular drinking hole called Danny Doolans but we find it quite cramped and busy after Dr  Rudi’s but also sporting a great vibe.

The Soul Bar around the corner is good for the mature crowd wanting to bypass the 20something drunkards and offers great music, food and a dance floor.  It stays open quite late.

On the way home we find ourselves in another Irish bar dancing away to 80s and 90s tunes called Father Ted’s. It is a fun bar that sees our night out.

All of the bars offered music and a great dance floor. I am really looking forward to going back again soon!

Night Clubs in Monaco

23/01/201709/05/2017

Sass Cafe

The Sass Cafe is FUN!

Great food is served, an awesome wine list and DJ music the club usually kicks off after 11pm.

Perched along the Avenue Princes Grace opposite the Grimaldi Forum.

Twiga Monaco

Sporting a wonderful club on the fringe of the Cote D’azure is Twiga. Hire a booth, hang out in the shisha bar, have a dance on the club’s dance floor, Twiga is an exclusive world class night club.

Buddha Bar

Everyone knows about the Monaco Buddha Bar. With a mix of locals, tourists and ” others” who offer paid services, you can have a pretty good time at Buddha Bar.

I seem to find myself here every visit – the outdoor area is good, the indoor club area fine and well, it’s just central and a good meeting place.

You will find it on the Italian side of the casino.

Le Meridien Beach Plaza

Underneath Le Meridien is the fun and accommodating Amber Summer. Open 24 hours, it is the place to go to late in the night. You can grab a cocktail, a dance or a warm blanket.

La Rascasse

Situated down on the docks in the lap of the palace is La Rascasse. I have had a few fun nights here but it can get very rowdy and isn’t as sophisticated as the other options. Great fun with a crowd.

Nikki Beach Monaco

This is a fun place and always great for a relaxing drink under the stars. You will find your way up to the salacious lounges through the casino. I have had a few BIG parties at Nikki Beach, with people jumping in the pool and very much like a scene out of a movie. Other nights it has been quiet. Definitely worth a look and drink.
